Steps To Ownership

Buying a holiday home is something many people think about for years before taking the first step. If you’re at the beginning of that journey — or if you’ve been considering it for a while and want to understand exactly how the process works — this guide is for you.

There’s nothing complicated about purchasing at Rivermead. Here’s how it works.

Step 1: Come and See the Park

Step 1: Come and See the Park

Before anything else, visit. Walk the grounds, see the river, look at the pitches. No formal presentation, no sales pressure — just an honest look at whether Rivermead feels like the right place for you.

Most of our owners say the same thing: they knew from the first visit. We’d much rather you see it in person than make a decision based on a website alone. Call us on 01386 555566 or 07711 504735 to arrange a visit at a time that suits you.

Step 2: Choose the Right Pitch on Park

Step 2: Choose the Right Pitch on Park

Once you’re interested in the park, the next question is: where on the park? Pitches vary in their position, outlook, and proximity to the river. Some have direct water views; others are more sheltered or private. We’ll walk you through what’s available and help you think about what matters most to you.

Pitch position makes a genuine difference to how much you enjoy being at Rivermead, so it’s worth taking time to choose well.

Step 3: Choose Your Holiday Home

Step 3: Choose Your Holiday Home

We carry a range of new and pre-owned holiday homes from established manufacturers including Willerby, Pemberton, Atlas, ABI, BK Bluebird, and Prestige. Holiday homes vary in size, specification, and price, and we’ll always point you towards options that suit your budget and your plans.

Not sure what size suits you? Think about how you’ll use it: will it mainly be the two of you, or do you expect family to join you regularly? Do grandchildren stay over? A two-bedroom holiday home works well for most owners, but we’re happy to talk through the options with you.

Step 4: Understand the Costs

Step 4: Understand the Costs

Holiday home ownership involves two main categories of cost: the purchase price of the holiday home itself, and the ongoing annual running costs.

Purchase Price

Holiday homes at Rivermead currently range from £26,995 for a pre-owned model to £62,995 for a premium new holiday home. Every purchase includes Cotswold stone steps, a patio, full service connections, and your first season’s site fees — so there are no additional set-up costs to plan for. Finance and part exchange are both available. See our Finance & Part Exchange page for full details.

Annual Running Costs

Beyond the initial purchase, the main ongoing cost is your annual site fee, which covers your pitch licence and contributes to the maintenance of the park. Gas, electricity, and water are metered separately and billed twice a year. Holiday home insurance is also required. Speak to us for current site fee information.

Reserve Your Holiday Home

Reserve Your Holiday Home

When you’ve chosen your holiday home and pitch, we’ll guide you through the reservation process. This includes the licence agreement, which sets out the terms of ownership at Rivermead, including permitted use (holiday use only; permanent residential occupation is not permitted), guest arrangements, and park rules.

We’ll make sure everything is clear before you sign. If any part of the process raises questions, we’re always happy to take the time to answer them properly.

Step 6: Move In and Enjoy

Step 6: Move In and Enjoy

Once everything is in order, your holiday home is positioned on your chosen pitch, services are connected, and your steps and patio are fitted. We’ll give you a full handover covering everything you need to know to get the most from your time at Rivermead. After that, it’s yours to enjoy. Most owners are back within a fortnight for their first proper stay.

Questions at any stage? Give us a call or drop in. We’re at the park most days and always happy to talk things through.
